Publication details
Chauvinia microphysa Kützing 1863: 11

Type species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chauvinia is Chauvinia clavifera (Turner) Bory.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Caulerpa lentillifera J.Agardh

Synonym(s)
No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.

Taxonomic notes
According to Millar & Prud'homme van Reine (2005: 537) Kützing's New Caledonian species, if transferred to the genus Caulerpa, cannot retain the epithet C. microphysa as it would become a later homonym of C. microphysa (Weber-van Bosse) Feldmann 1955(= Caulerpa racemosa v. clavifera f microphysa Weber-van Bosse 1898). On morphological characters, however, Chauvinia microphysa appears to be conspecific with the earlier described Caulerpa lentillifera J. Agardh.

General environment
No habitat entry has yet been made for this entity.
