Taxonomic note
Moestrup & Calado (2018: 468): 'Cells described as oval in ventral view, kidney-shaped in transverse section, compressed dorsoventrally; "membrana hyalina"; epi- and hypocone of equal length, rounded; cingulum indistinct; chloroplast green; cell length 33 %u03BCm, width 40 µm. Found in Manchuria. Although the species is described as wider than long, the illustration provided shows a cell longer than wide. The description also mentions that the epicone and hypocone are of equal length, yet the drawing clearly shows the epicone to be longer than the hypocone. The description of this species is so incomplete and confused that it should be considered a nomen inquirendum. We recommend to avoid using the name.' - (28 August 2020) - M.D. Guiry
