Syntype localities: In sinu Illuluk, ad insulam Unalascha observavit Mertens; ad insulam Kadiak legit Kastalsky, ad littora insulae Karaginsk: Postels.; (Postels & Ruprecht 1840: 11) Type: LE; (Yoshida 1998: 331) Notes: Yoshida (1998: 331) gives Unalaska, Alaska as the type locality.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), fistulate, hollow throughout but closed at ends (Stearn 1983).
