The type species (holotype) of the genus Trichomastix is Trichomastix lacertae Buetschli ex Blochmann.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Monocercomonas gallinarum (C.H.Martin & M.Robertson) B.V.Travis.
