Taxonomic note
"This species was described by P. Crouan & H. Crouan (1867) from material dredged at Brest. The description was inadequate and, as Batters (1896) pointed out, comes very near to that of Ralfsia clavata (= Stragularia clavata in the present text), from which it differs by the shorter, 1%u20132-celled, less clavate paraphyses which are hardly any longer than the unilocular sporangia. The record for Britain is based on material dredged from deep water near the mouth of the River Yealm, Plymouth Sound, south coast of England (Batters 1896). Examination of material deposited in the BM reveal 2%u20134-celled paraphyses and unilocular sporangia with size ranges within those given for Stragularia clavata in the present work. Stragularia disciformis is, therefore, excluded from the flora of Britain." (Fletcher 2024: 520). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry

Distributional note
According to Fletcher (1987) this species is absent from the shores of Britain and Ireland. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
