Type locality: "Nouv. Holl" [Australia]; (Edyvane & Womersley 1994: 296) Lectotype: LD; herb. Agardh 23557 (Edyvane & Womersley 1994: 296) Notes: Edyvane & Womersley (1994: 296) gives the following data for the type: Type from “Nouv. Holl.” (from Desfontaines); lectotype (“Fucus Tt”) in Herb. Agardh, LD, 23557 (a smaller fragment 23556); and in PC.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Occurring just sublittoral to 10 m deep on rough water-coasts (Edyvane & Womersley 1994: 296).
