The type species (lectotype) of the genus Delesseria is Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Hemineura frondosa (Hooker f. & Harvey) Harvey.

Type locality: "Tasmania, Mr. Gunn" [Tasmania (probably Georgetown)]; (Hooker & Harvey 1847: 403) Lectotype (designated by Womersley 2003: 35): BM; (Womersley 2003: 35) Notes: Harvey only mentions a single collection, so one wonders why a lectotype was necessary.
