Nomenclatural note
Larsen (1985: 17) rejected the combination of Schiller (1931: 51), refrring to it as a "nomen nudum'. However, it accepted by INA: "attributed to Kofoid & Skogsberg 1928: 32, but there as T. petasatum." Schiller (1931) cited the correct basionym and thus inadvertently made the combination. Larsen rejected the combination of Schiller and attempted a new combination. However, the Schiller name is valid under the ICN rules. - (22 August 2014) - M.D. Guiry

Habitat note
Sandy sediments. The species can feed by myzocytosis (using a peduncle) on Rhodomonas salina and Symbiodinium voratum (Yoo et al. 2018). - (14 June 2024) - M.D. Guiry
