Type locality: NW corner of Motokawanui (34°59.159'S, 173°56.201'E), Cavalli Islands , North Island, New Zealand; (D'Archino et al. 2015: 308) Holotype: R. D'Archino; 9 April 2013; 12-16 m depths on a low rocky reef in a dense Ecklonia radiata forest scattered across coarse white sand between rocks with some pebbles; WELT; A033027 (D'Archino et al. 2015: 308, fig. 2) Notes: Isotype: WELT A033028.
