Gómez (2013: 11) also introduced, albeit inadvertently, the combination Tripos inflatus (N. Peters) F. Gómez as "Tripos inflatus var. inflatus (N. Peters) F. Gómez" but the type variety is type var. is Tripos inflatus (Kofoid) F. Gómez 2013. Ceratium inflatum N.
