Nomenclatural note
"This species is only known from the type locality and also reported from Poland. Sirodot originally distinguished it from other species primarily based on this species being very hairy. Freshwater red algae may produce hyaline hairs that are hypothesized to be for nutrient uptake (particularly phosphorus) but are not considered taxonomically important. This species is likely a synonymy of one of the other European species which can be confirmed by molecular data." (Via & Necchi 2021: 225). - (15 April 2022) - M.D. Guiry
