Type locality: "Hakodadi Bay, Japan ; on rocks at low tide." [Hakodate Bay, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan] (Harvey 1860: 332). Lectotype: C. Wright; TCD (Masuda et al. 1995: 195, fig. 10).

Adjective (Latin), with lance-shaped leaves.
