Type locality: Isla Aguada, Campeche, Mexico (18°50.0'N, 91°26.51'W); (Resendiz & al. 2018: 97) Holotype (tetrasporophyte): M.L. Núñez-Resendiz, K.M. Dreckmann & A. Sentíes; 15 November 2013; attached to rocky substrata, from 0.5-1.0 m deep; UAMIZ; 1258 (Resendiz & al. 2018: 97, fig. 11) Notes: Isotypes: UAMIZ-1257 (tetrasporophyte).
