Distributional note
"This species, described by Ardré (1970: 216) from Portugal, was cited by Gallardo et al. (2016: 22, tab. 4) from the district of Alboran. However, because neither Gómez Garreta et al. (2001) nor Ballesteros (2010) nor M.D. Guiry in Guiry & Guiry (2023) reported any Mediterranean records of this species, we think that E. lusitanicum was erroneously inserted in the above quoted tab. 4 of Gallardo et al.'s (2016) paper." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 471). - (06 December 2023) - M.D. Guiry
Habitat note
Occurs mainly on wave-exposed coasts at lower intertidal to upper subtidal (down to 2 m depth) levels, where it forms dense turfs on sand-covered rocks and pools ( Diaz et al. 2009) - (30 January 2012) - G.M. Guiry
