Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Gracilariocolax is Gracilariocolax henriettae Weber Bosse.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gracilaria setchellii (Weber Bosse) Lyra & Guiry.

Type Information
Lectotype locality: Nordwatcher (Jawa Island), Indonesia; (Gerung & Yamamoto 2002: 212) Lectotype: Leiden herbarium; (Gerung & Yamamoto 2002: 212) Notes: Gerung & Yamamoto (2002: 212) note that of two localities where specimens (in the Leiden herbarium) were collected, no parasites were observed on specimens from Nusa Endeh (Flores Island), Indonesia. This situation required that a lectotype be selected from specimens collected from the second locality, Nordwatcher (Jawa Island), Indonesia. Specimens from Nordwatcher did contain parasites and are designated as lectotypes.
