The type species (holotype) of the genus Ralfsia is Ralfsia deusta (C.Agardh) Berkeley.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ramipedicella longicellularis (Perestenko) A.O.Oteng'o, B.Y.Won & T.O.Cho.
