Type Species
The type species (type conserved) of the genus Chlamydomonas is Chlamydomonas reinhardtii P.A.Dangeard.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chlamydomonas subanguliformis H.Ettl.

Type locality: "... tundra lake about 50 cm deep near Cyril Bay [Amchitka I., Aleutian Is., Alaska], with Isoetes sp. (66 chromosomes). Collected by H. T. Shacklette, July 28,1967."; (Skuja 1969: 54)
