Description: Thallus erect or sprawling and forming secondary attachments, irregularly branched. Primary axes polysiphonous, with 4 pericentral cells per axial cell, ecorticate, with short polysiphonous determinate lateral branches borne 1 per segment in a spiral pattern. Determinate branches richly branched and occasionally corymbose, with acute apices, sometimes with lateral trichoblasts. Secondary anastomoses formed between determinate lateral branches in some species. Spermatangia in specialised spherical to ovoid branches formed on trichoblasts. Cystocarps spherical, ostiolate. Tetrasporangia tetrahedral, arising 1 per segment in series in distal branches.
