Tetrasporopsis Lemmermann ex Schmidle, 1902

Description: Cells roundish,with a distinct wall. They are assembled in colonies, which start as tubular or sac-like structures, but later become reticulate or membranous, and may grow quite large. One-2 parietal chloroplasts, without stigma or pyrenoid. Reproduction by longitudinal division. Flagella not observed. Cysts unknown. Found in freshwaters ponds or cool, slow-running waters in central Europe and Australia.
