Description: Cells solitary, globular, ovoid-flattened, on the surface with numerous tapering siliceous bristles with enlarged bases. Two-4 yellow-brownish chloroplasts. Reproduction by autospores and uniflagellate zoospores, 4-8 per cell. In marine phytoplankton, common in the Adriatic Sea.
