Taxonomic status: currently regarded as a synonym of Rhipiliopsis.
Most recent taxonomic treatment adopted: Norris, J.N. & Olsen, J.L. (1991). Deep-water green algae from the Bahamas, including Caldophora vandenhoekii sp. nov. (Cladophorales). Phycologia 30: 315-328.
