Habitat note
Grows on calcareous substrata including pebbles, shells and massive rock formations, but most commonly found as an epiphyte on various species of the calcareous green alga Halimeda; hosts numerous other small algal species, especially diatoms, and small sessile animals; on vertical escarpments at depths where the light levels are no greater than one per cent of the surface intensity (Eiseman & Earle 1983). - (08 August 2011) - G.M.
