Chrysocrinus Pascher, 1916

Holotype species: Chrysocrinus hydra Pascher

Original publication and holotype designation: Pascher, A. (1916). Studien über die rhizopodiale Entwicklung der Flagellaten. Archiv für Protistenkunde 36: 82-136.

Description: Cell surrounded by a flattened lorica fixed to an algal filament, or to Sphagnum leaves. Lorica wall thick and brown from iron compounds, perforated by numerous openings on its upper surface through which long branched rhizopodia extend. Protoplast has one-2 chloroplasts and one-2 contractile vacuoles. Reproduction by division of the protoplast into 2-4 small naked amoebae which escape from the lorica. Sexual reproduction and stomatocysts unknown. Epiphytic. Found in acid freshwater ponds in Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands.
