Description: Cells oval to reniform, with one fenestrated chloroplast. They are surrounded by mucilage and united in packets. After division, daughter cells remain together within the mother cell mucilage, which eventually dissolves. Beyond this vegetative multiplication, reproduction includes zoospores with triangular cross section. They have one visible flagellum and a fenestrated chloroplast. Sexual reproduction and stomatocysts unknown. In freshwater, only found twice, in Germany and Austria.
