Description: Thalli colonial, with cells embedded in structureless gelatinous envelope attached at one end to substratum. Cells ellipsoid, with smooth cell walls. Cell ?uninucleate; chloroplast single and parietal, with single pyrenoid. Asexual reproduction through cell division and biflagellate zoospores; akinetes also observed; details of reproduction unclear. Sexual reproduction unknown. Inoderma reported from freshwater, rare. Genus so poorly known that taxonomic status and distribution require complete reinvestigation
