Description: Differs from Dinophysis Ehrenberg only by 2 long anterior directed spines, emerging from the ventral ends of the hypothecal cingular lists. Plate pattern unknown. Several authors have regarded this genus as not distinct from Dinophysis Ehrenberg. Needs reinvestigation. Sexual reproduction and cyst formation not known. Marine plankton, so far found only by its author in few specimens in the southern Adriatic Sea.
