Skvortzoviella Bourrelly, 1970

Holotype species: Skvortzoviella gracillima (Skvortsov) Bourrelly

Description: Free-swimming, quadriflagellate, dorsiventrally asymmetric monads, the anterior obliquely truncate and rounded, the posterior slightly narrowed and rounded, compressed; four subapically inserted flagella, three flagella one and one-half times cell length, one flagellum two-three times cell length; six - eight flattened, blue-green chloroplasts; two - three starch granules and oil droplets; indistinct contractile vacuole. A little known freshwater genus recorded only from impure, cold standing water near Harbin, northern Manchuria, China. Differs from Butschliella Skvortzov in the unequal flagella and blue-green chloroplasts.
