Original publication: Skuja, H. (1958). Eine neue vorwiegend sessil oder rhizopodial auftretende synbakteriotische Polytomee aus einem Schwefelgewässer. Svensk Botanisk Tidskrift 52(3): 379-390.

Description: Thalli unicellular comprised of free-swimming, biflagellate cells that attach apically to substrata and lose flagella. Cells 20-28 x 9-11 &m, with apical papilla. Cells ellipsoid to egg-shaped with two apical contractile vacuoles. Cells walls with numous attached symbiotic bacteria. Cells uninucleate and colorless, apparently devoid of chloroplast and pyrenoid. Asexual reproduction by biflagellate zoospores, 10-12 x 7-9 &m; 2-8 per sporangium. Also forming two aplanospores, 14 x 11 &m. Sexual reproduction unknown. Metapolytoma in freshwater habitats rich in humic material, sulfur and sulfur-loving bacteria; reported only from Riga.
