Holotype species: Skvortzoviothrix terrestris (Skvortsov) Bourrelly

Description: Plants forming hemispherical, cushion-like clumps, consisting of erect, sparingly branched, uniseriate filaments arranged in more or less parallel rows. Cells uninucleate, each with prietal chloroplast Asexual reproduction by biflagellate zoospores, both flagella of equal length. Sexual reproduction unknown. Terrestrial alga known from China
