Description: Cells with complex feeding apparatus with an oval-shaped gutter, covered by the anterior lip overlapping a reinforced ridge, but with less developed extracellular matrix; phylogenetic position unresolved due to lack of molecular data.

Taxonomic status: This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.

Gender: This genus name is currently treated as feminine.

Most recent taxonomic treatment adopted: Cavalier-Smith, T. (2016). Higher classification and phylogeny of Euglenozoa. European Journal of Protistology 56: 250–276, 2 figs.

Comments: The type species does not possess a pellicle and thus may not be an Euglenoid. The name should probably be corrected under the Botanical Code to "Postgaardia" but this does not appear to have been done.
