Original publication: Pore, S., D'Amato, F. & Ajello, L. (1977). Fissuricella gen. nov.: a new taxon for Prototheca filamenta. Sabouraudia 15: 69-78.

Description: Unpigmented, rugose or yeasty colonies contained hyaline cuboidal cell clusters, hyphae, and yeast. Cuboidal clusters result from incomplete separation of daughter cells after multiple cleavages. Numerous organic compounds assimilated. Fermentation absent. Sexual reproduction unknown.
