Description: Unicellular algae. Vegetative cells amoeboid. Each cell with several chloroplasts. Each chloroplast with a prominent projecting pyrenoid. The pyrenoid longitudinally divided into halves by a thin layer of the periplastidial compartment. Nucleomorph situated beside the pyrenoid base. Zoospores naked and monoflagellate.
