Description: Diagnosis. Cells bean-shaped, slightly flattened, with 2 heterodynamic flagella inserted in subapical flagellar pocket. A small acroneme on posterior flagellum. Anterior flagellum bearing mastigonemes. Uninuclear. No visible kinetoplast, cell «lip» and microtubular prism. Cylindrical trichocysts with reticular envelope. Free-living organisms, feeding by capturing bacteria with apical cytostome.
