Description: Ribbon-like, one-layered thallus, initially uniseriate at the point of attachment, and becoming biseriate after 6-8 cells, due to the production of gel that spreads apart the cells, and the general appearance becomes clavate. Oval, uninucleate cells 7-9 ?m long, 3-4.5 ?m wide, with thin walls, chloroplast parietal, bell-shaped, pyrenoid absent. Gelatinous sheath 2 ?m wide at the edges. Zoospores pyriform, with slightly unequal apical flagella.
