Description: Foliose, round to lanceolate, entire or irregularly split. Stipe short, thick. Medulla of thin, loosely interwoven filaments and rhizoids. Cortex of isodiametric cells, progressively smaller toward cuticle. Cystocarps embedded in medulla. Spermatangia undescribed. Tetrasporophyte isomorphic. Tetrasporangia cruciate, in cortex.

Taxonomic status: This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Halymenia.

Gender: This genus name is currently treated as feminine.
