Description: Uncalcified thalli, anchor system (no stolon), a corticated or uncorticated stalk, which can be mono or multisiphonous, and a fan-shaped blade, which can be mono or pluristromatic. Siphons are dichotomously divided with or without supra-dichotomous constrictions. Siphons diameter are < 100 ?m. Cohesion between siphons is due to one or several types of adhesion structures (direct longitudinal contact, differentiated siphons, papillae, or tenacula).
