Description: Uncalcified thalli composed of a monosiphonous and corticated stipe with very remarkable spines, simple or forked, and a flabelliform or cyathiform frond, mono or pluristromatic. Siphons dichotomously divided and <50 ?m in diameter. Broad dichotomies, with deep supra-dichotomous constrictions. Adhesion of the siphons by papillae of type I (bilateral contact in H structure) or II (unilateral).
