Type locality: Western Port, Victoria, Australia (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 811). Holotype: LD, Herb. Agardh 14897 (Womersley 1984: 292).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), club-shaped (Stearn 1973).
Epithet should perhaps be "claviformis" in accordance with Art. 60.10 (but see Rec. 60 G). - (17 Jan 2020) - M.D. Guiry
