Type locality: "New Zealand. Sir C. P. Thunberg.—Coast of New Holland, parasitical upon other Fuci. Mr. Menzies." (Turner 1808-1809: 16). Lectotype: Mr Menzies; BM (Womersley 2003: 462). Notes: Lectotype selected by Saito & Womersley (1974: 824).
This is a marine species.
Confined largely to the leaves of Posidonia (occasionally Amphibolis) in conditions of moderate water movement (Womersley 2003: 462).
