Type locality: Alfacs Bay, Ebro Delta, NW Mediterranean (Spain) (Bergholtz et al 2006: 173). Holotype: Botanical Museum, Copenhagen University (C) A-2381 (Bergholtz et al 2006: 173). Notes: Holotype: A fixed and embedded sample of culture K-0668. The Spanish isolate was established into clonal culture by M. Fernández-Tejedor. A subculture has been deposited in the Scandinavian Culture centre for Algae and Protozoa.
