This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ptilota gunneri P.C.Silva, Maggs & L.M.Irvine

Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), feathery (Stearn 1973).

Nomenclatural notes
C. Agardh (1817), Lyngbye (1819) and later authors (see Silva et al. 1995) used Linnaeus’s Fucus plumosus as basionym (a later homonym of Fucus plumosus Hudson 1762). Ptilota plumosa C.Agardh should perhapsbe treated as a new name (Athanasiadis, 1996).
