Note: Docidium crenulatum Ralfs (1848: 219), the earliest supposed, post-starting point date, basionym is a nomen nudum; and in any case Ralfs says 'Professor Bailey informs me that this plant is identical with Docidium nodulosum' and it cannot thus serve a basionym on two counts.
