This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tricleocarpa fragilis (Linnaeus) Huisman & R.A.Townsend
Type locality: West Indies (Huisman & Borowitzka 1990: 168). Lectotype: Ellis & Solander 1786: pl 22, fig. 4 (lectotypified by Papenfuss et al 1982): (Huisman & Borowitzka 1990: 168).
