This is a marine species.
Erect or prostrate with features typical of the genus. Tetrasporangial sori distinctly banded at branch apices when young, becoming cuneiform to obovate with maturation and ultimately covering both surfaces of branch tips except for the margins.
Holotype locality: Queenscliff Jetty (–38.26698°, 144.66788°), Port Phillip Heads, Victoria, Australia (Saunders & McDonald 2010: 663). Holotype: G.W. Saunders; 10 December 2002; -4 m jetty piling. UNB GWS001604 (Saunders & McDonald 2010: 663). Notes: HOLOTYPE BARCODE: HM033117.
