Syntype localities: Hab. ad infimum refluxus limitem littoris Faroeneis, ut ad Qvivig, Hövig, etc. [various in Faroe Islands] (Lyngbye 1819: 72).

Adjective (Latin), oval, elliptical, i.e., broadest at the middle, the sides curved and length:breadth generally 2:1 (Stearn 1973).
