Type species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Grateloupia is Grateloupia filicina (J.V.Lamouroux) C.Agardh.

Type information
Holotype locality: Hado (33º31'N, 126º54'E), Jeju, Korea (Kim et al. 2013: 235). Holotype (fig. 1A): 4 October 2009; intertida zone. CNUK CNU040218 (Kim et al. 2013: 235). Notes: Isotypes: CNU040217, -19, -220-1, NI-BRAL0000138259-60.
