Type locality: Vicinity of Montpellier, French Mediterranean coast (Lipkin & Silva 2002: 20). Type: Draparnaud; (Lipkin & Silva 2002: 20).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), saturn-red, flame-scarlet; literally, ‘painted with red lead’ (Stearn 1973).
