Syntype localities: "Rio, Mr Darwin, 595, 629. Algoa Bay, Herb. Bowerbank." [Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Algoa Bay, Cape Province, South Africa] (Harvey 1849: 95). Notes: A syntype collected at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the voyage of HMS Beagle is in MEL (no. 594504, numbered 629 [as specified by Harvey] by C. Darwin), and is depicted in Harvey et al. (2013) as figs 11-13.
