This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Asparagopsis.
Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Asparagopsis taxiformis (Delile) Trevisan
No synonyms are currently included in AlgaeBase.
According to Silva, Basson & Moe (1996: 183), Dasya delilei and Asparagopsis delilei are superfluous names and thus illegitimate as the epithet taxiformis should have been retained. - (12 May 2009) - Wendy Guiry
