This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Osmundaria.
Status of name
This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.
Type locality: "Nov. Holl." (possibly Western Australia) (Silva & al. 1996: 532). Notes: Probably W. Aust.; not located in Herb. Lamouroux, CN (Womersly, 2003: 406).
Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), producing offsets, bearing progeny as offshoots (Stearn 1973).
